Sára Vegső

Speech Therapist

I have been working as a speech therapist / special education teacher for nearly 10 years, and in that time I have gained experience in many different fields. I started out in early intervention, supporting the communication and speech development of the very youngest children. Later I worked in child protection, where I encountered complex challenges, and my conviction only deepened about how powerful the right communication and a supportive environment can be.

    About Me

Over recent years I have worked in several institutions with children from diverse backgrounds and with varying needs. In some places we specialised exclusively in the development of children with special educational needs; in others I provided speech therapy for children attending mainstream schools. All of these experiences deepened my belief that every child’s development is unique, and that the key lies in a loving relationship, the joy of play, and a safe, accepting environment.

I completed my special education and speech therapy degree at the University of Kaposvár, where — as a complementary qualification — I also studied drama-based pedagogy in parallel, as I have always been interested in how play, experience, and creativity can be put to work in development. My first degree was in communication and media studies at Szent István University, and I have been expanding my expertise year by year ever since.

My professional work is most strongly shaped by the therapeutic play therapy methodology developed by Erzsébet Tunyogi. At the heart of this approach is learning through play, emotional safety, and accepting connection. I believe that children naturally develop through their intrinsic motivation when they are in an environment where they can freely flourish. For many years I volunteered at Bátor Tábor, where I gained experience of the power of experience-based development and connection. In therapeutic work I consider relationship, play, and experience to be the most powerful tools — I also work with children as a magician, because a small wonder not only brings a smile to their faces but can also open doors to development.

My other great passion is climbing. From my own experience I know how much this form of movement has given me: my self-confidence grew, my concentration improved, and I became more focused even in situations that had previously been daunting. The physical and mental growth experienced through climbing inspired me to incorporate its therapeutic application into my work — because I believe that for certain children it can make an enormous difference if we can accompany them on the path of development not only through words, but through movement as well.
